CBN and ACSFN Sponsor Undergraduate Student Travel Awards to Society for Neuroscience Meeting in Atlanta in October 2006

The purpose of this award, jointly sponsored by the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience and the Atlanta Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience, is to allow students at Atlanta, Georgia area universities to gain exposure to the world of neuroscience research at the world's largest annual gathering of neuroscientists. Students who attend will learn more about career opportunities in neuroscience and can make valuable contacts in the field and among their fellow students in the Atlanta area.

Up to 40 undergraduate  students from Atlanta area colleges and universities will be awarded $200 each to cover registration and other expenses to attend the meeting.  Students do not have to be actively engaged in research or presenting something at the SFN meeting to apply.  If a student is already planning to attend and present at the meeting, they can still apply for this award.  We mainly want to support students who are very interested in neuroscience as a potential career.

The application process is simple.  Students must submit only 3 things:

  1. a completed  Award Application Form,
  2. a typed, double-spaced personal statement, and
  3. a completed SFN Registration Form (leave payment info blank on this form).  The deadline is Friday, September 8, 2006. Awardees will be notified no later than Friday, September 22, 2006.
